Barrie Family Support Group

“A year and half ago, my life spiralled out of control when my 19 year old son experienced psychosis. He has since been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder. Currently his is not doing well but thanks to FMHI, I am coping. My family, friends and co-workers have been very supportive, but they really don’t understand and I felt very alone. Through the internet, I found and started attending a support group (Barrie Family Support Group). I believe it has saved my own sense of well being. I can’t tell you how much it means to share and listen to other parents where there is no judgment. Even though our stories may be different, we can all relate to what each other are going through. This year I have attended both the Family & Friends Connected Educational Program and the Addiction & Mental Health Family Educational Program. They were both excellent resources to help me learn and cope with this new way of life. I could not imagine where I would be emotionally or mentally if I did not have the support of FMHI.”
