Hello everyone!

It's been 3 months since I began working from home; globally we all distanced ourselves with the unifying goal to reduce the spread of the virus. Although we were apart from family members, friends, and members of our broader communities; we were also, now living closer than ever before with members of our family in our homes. Living this closely each day in this pandemic has come with challenges as well as deeper bonding opportunities. Starting in September, I will begin offering virtual education. I have been working on new presentation topics based on feedback from families and the challenges they experienced during this pandemic. As I venture into the online way of service, I am looking forward to connecting again with all of you as we navigate a new way of living and building an online social support network for family caregivers in the mental health & addiction system within Simcoe County.

As a reminder, I will be taking vacation days this summer. I have included in this issue contact information on where to go for support while I am away.

Thank you to all family caregivers for the support you provide during this uncertain time.

Virtual Family Education Programs

Virtual education will begin in September 2020

Details on programs, dates and times will be sent out in August.

When it is safe to resume in-person groups, FMHI will offer programs again across Simcoe County. The choice to offer virtual programs will continue after this pandemic is over. This pandemic has taught us that virtual connection is beneficial and user-friendly to many people. FMHI wants to provide programs that meet the individual needs of family caregivers. FMHI will work to provide programs in both settings once we can all safely be together again.
