There will be an evening session that reviews the key information from the Oxygen Program, titled "Hazards of Helping: Preventing Burnout & Sustaining Compassion." You can sign-up starting on February 18, 2019. The poster with further details will be in the February issue of this e-notice.

Reminder that the Barrie Family Support Group that is facilitated by Elizabeth Marshall will be held at a new location 90 Mulcaster St., in Barrie Poster is below with more details.  If you would like ongoing support here are places you can contact. To have 24/7 support, Crisis Services at 705-728-5044 will get you to speak with a live mental health professional. You may also see them in-person by calling the same number and ask for a mobile service.

 To inquire about services at Canadian Mental Health Association of Simcoe County, you may call and speak with the On-Duty Worker Monday-Friday (9am-4pm) at 705-726-5033, anyone can also walk-in, without an appointment, and speak with the On-Duty Worker at 88 Mulcaster St., second floor.

Family members interested in speaking with an addiction counselor may contact the On-Duty Worker for this service at 705-726-5033.

911 is always available for immediate, emergency service.

Educational Program

You can now sign-up to attend the "Family & Friends Connected: Educational Program" taking place in Barrie starting February 7, 2019.

This program is being offered during the DAYTIME. Time is 10am - 12pm.

Hazards of Helping:

Preventing Burnout & Sustaining Compassion

You can sign-up on Febuary 18, 2019 to attend this evening presentation which will cover key information from the Oxygen Program. This session will be held in Barrie at 90 Mulcaster St.

What will I learn?

•  The ability to recognize the early warning signs of compassion fatigue and burnout in one's own life.

•  Learn the principles of resilience that reduce the risk of burnout, rebuild wellness and sustain compassion.

•  Receive a self-evaluation process that builds good self-care habits for lifelong wellness.

•  Learn how to communicate with a person who is ill, injured or dying by identifying the layers of a difficult conversation and how to recognize the moment when conversations can turn around to become about discovery.

•  You will leave the session with the tools that will support you in fulfilling your helping role.

Walk-In Service at CMHA Simcoe County

Also called On-Duty, this is a “Walk-In service“, both in-person and by phone, for individuals in help of finding community resources or submitting referrals to access CMHA services and programs. It is also for individuals who require emotional support and guidance at the moment of call. Knowledge and education is provided on how to access internal programs in CMHA and various other duties performed at request.
