Registration is open for a new program Oxygen for Caregivers: Guarding Against Burnout & Sustaining Compassion. Contact Tara Maxwell at tmaxwell@cmhastarttalking.ca to reserve your spot in the program.

If you would like ongoing support here are places you can contact. To have 24/7 support, Crisis Services at 705-728-5044 will get you to speak with a live mental health professional. You may also see them in-person by calling the same number and ask for a mobile service.

To inquire about services at Canadian Mental Health Association of Simcoe County, you may call and speak with the On-Duty Worker Monday-Friday (9am-4pm) at 705-726-5033, anyone can also walk-in, without an appointment, and speak with the On-Duty Worker at 88 Mulcaster St., second floor.

Family members interested in speaking with an addiction counselor may contact the On-Duty Worker for this service at 705-726-5033.

911 is always available for immediate, emergency service.

safeTALK Training

Parents & Supporters

On November 1, 2016 in Barrie from 6:00pm-8:30pm will be a training for parents and supporters on safeTALK. A training in suicide alertness. Helps participants recognize a person with thoughts of suicide and connect them with resources who can help them in choosing to live.

No fee to attend.

 OXYGEN FOR CAREGIVERS

Guarding Against Burnout & Sustaining Compassion

 Registration Now Open

A new program is now available for family caregivers. What you will learn when you attend the Oxygen for Caregivers program are the principles of resilience to reduce the risk of compassion fatigue, rebuild wellness and sustain compassion. Recognize early warning signs of compassion fatigue, vicarious trauma and burnout. Practice a five-step self-evaluation process that builds good self-care habits and a commitment to lifelong wellness. Learn a step-by-step method for communicating with people who are ill, injured, isolated, or in distress. Learn how to turn a difficult conversation into a discovery conversation. Identify the three layers of a difficult conversation. Recognize the pivotal moments when conversations can turn around and build strong caregiving partnerships despite the difficulties. View video's about the program below:

BARRIE FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP

Canadian Mental Health Association of Simcoe County offers a support group designed for family members and friends of persons with a mental illness and/or substance issue. THE MOOD DISORDERS SELF-HELP GROUP
